Navtej Kohli : The Line of Beauty

Navtej Kohli had read story The Line of Beauty which is written by Alan Hollinghurst. Although a movie and TV serial also made to take this story , But according to Navtej Kohli “ The Line of Beauty “ is a nice book specially for young reader , After winning Booker Award Alan feel good but according to him ‘ there are few aspects are left that I had wrote but not published the motive behind that this book can be readable by every family member .
The Line of Beauty is a rich imagination of Alan Hollinghurst's which had won Booker Prize 2004. According to BBC editor Line of Beauty is the story of Love , passion , Joy , Romance which depicted 80th era social living . The story shows the person whose name was Nick Guest was young coke-snorting gay from modest means lived in 1983 era. A well known well-bred and rich Fedden family invited him to live with. Gerald Fedden was Tory MP who lived alone and was mastered the art of superficial charm that comes with station . Although Nick was outsider and anonymous for Fedden lifestyle but soon Nick like his family and house. Nick is our travel guide through this world of detached privilege, while the realities of the outer world, including AIDS, threatens to disrupt it all.
The New Statesman says, "But all of my reservations are offset by the pure pleasure and exhilaration of Alan Hollinghurst's writing, always so stylish and poised, with generous cadences of sorrow and delight."
Hero of the Book , Nick was James scholar and also be moderated man who has own living style. In the first part of the book Nick go into Notting Hill mansion of Gerald Fedden, one of Thatcher's Tory MPs, at the request of the minister's son. Soon Hero Nick fall in love with Tody’s sister Catherine and now attract to her and lost his virginity spectacularly to Leo, a black council worker. In the next section reader can find the Nick became more refined person . Leo has dropped out of the picture; cocaine, three-ways and another Oxford alum, the sinisterly alluring, wealthy Lebanese Wani Ouradi, have taken his place.
Nick was less aware about risk which involve with Wani, and also doesn’t know the desires of Gerald . In 1987 the situation became worst when media throw light scandal that engulfs Gerald and then entangles Nick. Moreover the view of writer to show off every emotion and scene very broadly in a such way that reader can assume that story is moving in such a way that they also involving in as a character .The author try to find out how a business man tackle life . While This is Nick coming home for the first and only time with the closeted Leo: "there were two front doors set side by side in the shallow recess of the porch. Leo applied himself to the right hand one, and it was one of those locks that require tender probings and tuggings, infinitesimal withdrawals, to get the key to turn." This novel has the air of a classic. On the other way , if the author have no clear vision about his hero Nick then every reader read it as prolonged episode of famous and rich person lifestyle. Besides that author clear portrait the his vision and reader can enjoy every word and every sentence . The lifestyle of the Nick and circumstances which are moving around the Nick was very exciting and every I think every reader can find himself in the place of the Nick .
